Find the best kayaking destinations in North America
Sometimes there is nothing more peaceful than the ocean. Combining the serenity of the sea with
the adventure of a kayaking trip is many people's dream. Finding the perfect place
can be tricky though, because in order for everything to be perfectly enjoyable, everything must also
be perfectly planned out. Luckily for you, we've done all the hard work in compiling the five best
sea kayaking trips in North America.
5. Maine
Going to Maine might not seem quite as glamorous as a trip to Baja or Alaska, but if you're after the
very best North American kayaking spots, then the state's very own Acadia National Park cannot be missed.
This park features America's very first water trail. Spanning three hundred and twenty five miles long, the
Maine Island Trail offers fantastic views of the surrounding park as well as plenty of potential wildlife to
see while you paddle on by. The result is one of the most interesting kayaking trips to be found in the United States.
4. Alaska
When one thinks of adventure, the state billed as the "Last Frontier" is a good place to start.
Alaska's Glacier Bay, one of the most beautiful national parks in America, offers some of the most beautiful
natural sights in the world, and it also happens to be perfect for sea kayaking so long as you hit it at the right
time of year. According to canoekayak.com, the Grand Pacific Glacier has receded by 20 miles since it was first
discovered. This means there are now twenty miles of perfect kayaking waters left in its wake.
3. Mexico
If you don't feel like paddling around in the cold, Baja California may be the place for you. Offering
a distinctly different experience than what is available to most North American kayakers, this trip south of
the border is sure to please those who just want to relax. Good food and spectacular views are reason enough
for most people to consider visiting Baja California, but kayakers get the added benefit of enjoying the diverse marine
life that calls the area home, as January is the time to see Grey whales.
2. Washington
If you don't feel like making the journey to the Eastern seaboard, than Washington might be the place for you.
The state's San Juan Islands are the perfect place to grab a kayak and paddle around. The waters around the
islands are famous for being the home to hundreds of orcas. So if you want to see whales but don't feel like traveling
to Mexico, Washington state is the place to do it.
1. Florida Keys
We decided to save the most obvious for last, but only because it might very well still be the best choice.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of people make the journey to Florida Keys. The reason is simple: the promise
of an unparalleled kayaking trip is all but guaranteed. Just avoid hurricane season, of course.
As you can see, there are plenty of awe-inspiring locations to take your next kayaking trip right here in North America.
So don't be afraid to let your adventurous side out and try one of our recommended kayaking destinations for yourself.
As a bonus destination, a bit out of scope, consider kayaking in the Caribbean!
