The Emilia Romagna is a region rich in beauties and deserves several weekends on a trip or a long vacation. It is one of the largest regions of Italy (sixth, but with a remarkable advantage on the seventh) and goes from the sea to the Apennines passing through many historic cities to visit (the name itself, Emilia Romagna, indicates the Dual nature of the region, with the sea of Romagna and the hills of Emilia).
Bologna is the largest city: to see the large historic center, also admiring the panorama from the medieval Torre degli Asinelli . Ferrara is smaller and a tourist could dedicate ourselves less time, but its historic center is spectacular, especially thanks to the Diamond Palace .
The itinerary for the beautiful Emilian cities can continue with Modena and its Duomo and with Parma and the nearby castles of Bardi and of Torrechiara (without neglecting the culinary delicacies of these cities ).
Emilia includes the Apennines, which touch the highest peaks in the province of Parma and of Piacenza , where the Bel Paese of Bobbio is also located. However, an interesting stretch of coast is also part of Emilia on the Adriatic Sea : the Delta of the Po is in Emilia area, as well as Comacchio and the Comacchio valleys . If you want to visit swamps, channels, and very characteristic landscapes, unique in Italy, the Po Delta and Comacchio are the right places! You can also see pink flamingos and, in summer, big mosquitoes almost like flamingos!
in Romagna , instead, the city historically and architecturally more fascinating is Ravenna , for its ancient origins and for its mosaics, one of those Destinations to be seen not only for beauty but also for the importance it had in our culture.
Remaining to Romagna, the coast is famous for long beaches, equipped bathrooms, hospitality, premises and holidays . Rimini and Riccione are the most famous and lively destinations.
Apart from visiting the places listed in the paragraph on the "What to see", there are many activities to do in Emilia Romagna. Before moving to the most sporting deeds, we start from food and wine. All Italian regions have culinary delights, but Emilia Romagna is one of the most supplied ones, as to succulent foods, especially in Emilia (perhaps because in Romagna you cook less and celebrates more!). The typical dishes are above all the first like lasagna and tagliatelle with ragù, tortelloni and pumpkin tortelli, as well as to countless variants of the typical dishes of Italian cuisine. Even for the seconds there is the embarrassment of choice: the Zampone of Modena is the most characteristic touch of the delicious Emilian boiled.
This on which Emilia is first in the world is the production of meats: Hams and Culatello, mortadelle, fioccona, cup, bacon, salami ... etc. The cheeses stands the Parmigiano Reggiano. It is nice to see that this region has given birth to products to products exported now all over the world. And it's also nice to eat cheese and cold cuts together with the fried dumplings!
To dispose of how much listed above, you can do different sports activities. On the sea, bathing establishments give the opportunity to practice beach volleyball, beach tennis (practically born here), canoeing, sailing, sup, water skiing, etc. The Po can be the destination of other originals paid and remathes (the rapid River Trebbia, instead, is good for those who are very good with kayak ... I am sideways!). The Emilian Hills are a paradise for those who love to ride a bike and climbing among the Apennines there are many trekking routes. Finally, Emilia also has some small ski resorts, in particular Monte Cimone and Cerreto Laghi .
when Go and move to Emilia Romagna? The answer to these questions is linked to what you want to do and see. For cities, every season is fine (but in summer it does a lot hot) and public transport is convenient: the trains directly link the largest cities mentioned in the paragraph on the "What to see in Emilia", then make a route Parma Modena Bologna Ferrara Ravenna is really comfortable and fast for a holiday in history and culture. The seaside resorts are also easily raged by train. Instead, for the valleys and the villages and the mountains, a car is generally much more comfortable.
(to rent a car here at the best prices for your travel itinerary I always recommend by Search and book at this link ).
