The Valle d'Aosta b> is made famous by its mountains and, whether you are visited over the weekend with both a longer holiday, there is a lot to see and do, as in all The Italian regions (we are lucky!).
Here are some trips we suggest:
- Trekking (here described with snowshoes) from estoul to the refuge arp .
- Trekking/snowshoes/skiing up to Punta Valfredda .
- Hiking itinerary in Champorcher .
For everything else ... read below!
Let's start from the mountains, but we'll see that there's more , in Valle d'Aosta
of Alpes Valdostane can be said so much: the highest mountains of Italy and Europe (Caucaso except), with unique landscapes and great opportunities for skiing and trekking . Even the fewer sportsmen can see the beauties of the alpine landscapes, thanks to the ski lifts: the most important, such as the famous Skyway on the massif of the Monte Bianco which reaches 3500 meters of altitude, are also open 'Summer.
The National Park Gran Paradiso , shared with Piedmont, is enormous (and the oldest in Italy), with alpine lakes, ibex, glaciers and immaculate peaks. Between the Monte Rosa and the Val Ferret , between the valleys of Cogne with the waterfalls and the Valtournenche with the views of the Cervino , you are spoiled for choice among alpine landscapes for those who want to make hiking itineraries.
Another feature of the Valle d'Aosta are the castles, which deserve a trip even by those who do not particularly love the mountain. The first to see is perhaps the fort of bard , where cultural events are also held in summer, but the castle of verres are also deserving trips and the castle Fenis .
before going to the rich paragraph of the "What to do" in Valle d'Aosta, we must still mention the capital. In fact, Aosta is a beautiful city that also has Roman ruins.
Sports activities to do in Valle d'Aosta are mainly those related to the Alps: skiing and snowshoeing in winter, trekking routes in other seasons , but also rafting and, for quieter holidays or even just for a bit of relaxation, thermal baths.
The following pages we describe two splendid trips on the snow near Brusson: with The snowshoes from Estoul at the Rifugio Arp e With snowshoes or skiing skiing to Punta Valfredda . Not far away there is Champorcher with this wonderful excursion . In fact, even sleeping in the mountain shelters, among nature, eating typical dishes and admiring incredible starry, is a fantastic way to spend a different weekend.
The trekking paths are so many that it is impossible to choose, and what the best depends on the skills of hikers: the locations mentioned in the paragraph on "what to see". Also for a ski tour there is plenty of choice: the larger areas are those of champoluc (combined with Gressoney ), by Cervinia (from which you can connect to Zermatt , in Switzerland) and the Thuile . Pila is the most convenient, Courmayeur The most chic.
The most famous thermal baths are at Prè St Didier , while for rafting Dora Baltea is the river par excellence not only in Valle d'Aosta, but throughout Italy.
