In San Nicola Arcella, Praia a Mare and Scalea there are many beautiful beaches with comfortable establishments where you can spend a fun beach vacation, but if you love wild places just take a pedal or a kayaking and go to admire the imposing Dino Island. In the same trip in canoe/sup/pedalò you can also visit the incredible aromagne.
The area of San Nicola Arcella is less famous than Tropea, but we found it even more messed up, especially near the Army (a delirium, in August). If it is high season, you are in cars and you don't get soon, it's much easier to go to park at the long beaches of Praia a Mare in front of the island of Dino. On one of these beaches we swollen our stand up paddle and we left for the island.
The island is about 1 km long, wide no more than 500 meters and high 100 (it's pretty little, but it doesn't work if you tell you). It is separated from the beaches of the mainland by a very close channel ... Pothi Paese and you are already on the island. At first there is a hikel, then, along the north side, there are only pristine cliffs and some caves. This is also a great place to snorkel.
At the top of the island of Dino there is a tower. The cliffs on the south side are, if possible, even more impressive and the strangest caves. The larger marine cave is the blue cave, from the blue water, in which you can park at least a thousand canoes (even if after a while the maneuvers would become very complicated: D). Every once in a while there are tourist boats.
And so, the south side of the island presents other spectacular cliffs to coast in sup. After 3 km you have traveled the dusk of the island of Dino Ammirando Beautiful landscapes and swimming in clear and summer water.
The last part of the island of Dino is made of a labyrinth of rocks, of another cave from whose top you can dive and some constraints like tende-trulli where you could once housed.
From here, skirting the spacious and vibrant beaches of Praia a Mare towards San Nicola Arcella, you can go to the Army.
After about a kilometer and a half of beaches, there are a cliff among which strange forms open, one of which is the gigantic Armagno di San Nicola Arcella, with under the sea and behind a dreamy beach (but very crowded, when we were there) .
In a couple of kilometers you can return to the starting point and thus conclude this wonderful trip. While for the island of Dino it is recommended to have a sup, a kayaking or a pedal boat, the Armagno can also be reached on foot, which explains the crowding.
Of the villages mentioned, the most fascinating is a scalea (separated from the argument from a small promontory), which in addition to large beaches has a beautiful historic center perched. In short, highly recommended for a holiday or a weekend trip, with many beauties and fun possibilities enclosed in a few kilometers.
