The Valle Stura is rich in wonderful paths that are climbing over the maritime Alps, to precise the Cuneo Alps, up to the border with France. On this page we propose some of the most beautiful trekking routes and a series of photos that will immediately make you want to fasten the boots.
The main town of the Valle Stura is Vinadio, about 700 meters of altitude, a country that also has an imperious strong. The most beautiful paths leave more upstream, at 20 - 30 minutes by car.
It is the case for example of the first trek that I suggest, which starts in Argentera and goes to the roburent lakes.
The path starts with a steep climb and department; Fatigue is rewarded by the panoramas that are becoming more and more beautiful.
Between mountains, meadows and grassions, you arrive at the first lake, where you can take a dip if you are prepared for frosty water.
Going up again, you meet other lakes and a beautiful panorama that goes up to France : here in fact you can continue the path in the French Alps, leaving the Valle Stura.
Another wonderful hiking itinerary is the one that leads to the Lakes of VENS starting from Ferrere.
To get to Ferrere you have to drive a Tortuate dirt road; The country, however, is splendid.
Here the path leaves in a verdant valley; At the third cow turn right (not, seriously, get a map, even if the paths are well marked) and climped on for grindings and Pietraie until you reach a hill from which to admire the view.
From here you go down towards the first lake of VENS, where there is also a refuge where you can have lunch. Water is spectacular, frosty but inviting.
Continuing along the path that runs along the lake, you can get to the second mirror of water, this splendid too. I don't know if here in the mountains we can still say that it is in Valle Stura, because, in reality, we are already in France.
Returning back, instead, as you go towards the step you can admire a large rock bow.
Another interesting path in Valle Stura (and I also believe the most frequented by hikers) is that of the lakes around Sant'Anna di Vinadio. The sanctuary of Sant'Anna, located on an overview mountain over vinadio, is in fact very attended. A ring itinerary allows you to take a tour of the mountains around, touching some beautiful lakes, less spectacular than the previous but worthy of a trip and a dip. This trek takes about 3-4 hours and is perfect for those who don't have much time.
