Travel itinerary to Guadeloupe
Guadeloupe is a French territory of overseas, which, for Italian travelers, allows convenient access to the Caribbean, thanks to the presence of the euro, to mobile phones that can be used freely And to modern structures. More important is that Guadeloupe is a set of splendid islands, in which the beaches of Grande Terre stand out, the wild trails of Basse Terre (strangely, low lands is the most impressive and mountainous island) and the picturesque houses of the small Les Saintes . The small but spectacular Archipelago of Les Saintes
The ideal activities during a holiday in Guadeloupe are snorkeling, trekking, kayaking and also things without K type and surfing. You can also place you simply on a white beach, sunbathing or relaxing under a palm tree. Bois Jolan beach, in Grande Terre, one of the most beautiful beaches of Guadeloupe
Great lands and its beaches
If you are looking for paradisiacal beaches in Guadeloupe, with white sand and palm trees and crystal clear heavenly water, the area around Sainte Anne, in the southern part of Great Terre, is the place to go. In addition to the beach of Sainte Anne itself, in the surroundings there are the most intimate beach of Petit Havre and the wonderful one of Bois Jolan. As mentioned, Bois Jolan's beach is perhaps the most beautiful of Guadeloupe: a long expanse of white sand repaired by the coral reef and surrounded by palm trees and green. Water has incredible colors. But it is not the ideal place for a swim, given the very low bottom. Bois Jolan beach
Another remarkable place to visit during a holiday in Guadeloupe is the Pointe des Chateaux, absolutely to add to your travel itinerary. The eastern promontory of the island offers splendid panoramas, especially from the cross on top of the tip. Pointe des Chateaux, eastern end of Guadeloupe
If you look towards the width, towards the Atlantic Ocean, you have an impressive view of the cliffs and the island of the Désirade.

Another typical holiday place in Grande Terre is Le Gosier, where many of Guadeloupe's major hotels are located. The village of Le Gosier, in front of the omonymous island, is quite characteristic. Other towns to visit in Grande Terre are Sainte Anne and obviously Pointe-à-Pitre, the largest and modern city of Guadeloupe (from which we inevitably pass, having the airport). Basse Terre
Although the most beautiful beaches of Guadeloupe are in great lands, the best swims are made at low lands. It is not a contradiction, because while lacking the white sand (the beaches here are mostly volcanic) the sea of the west coast is very clear, calm, deep in the right way, full of fish and corals. The paradise for snorkeling is the reserve Cousteau, at Pigeon Island, absolutely to be included in a travel itinerary to Guadeloupe. Rainbow above and turtle below: the show of the reserve cousteau
Here you can swim with myriads of colorful fish, as well as admiring the mountains cloaked by green lands. Turtles are located along the promontory that closes the reserve and often swim between the anchor sailboats. Pigeon Island, reachable from the ground with rental kayak, is tiny and pristine; From his summit he enjoys a wonderful panorama. Another thing to do absolutely at the reserve Cousteau and in general on the west coast of Basse Terre is to admire the sunsets: when the sun falls on Pigeon Island, in fact, you can admire the most beautiful twilight of a holiday in Guadeloupe. Sunset on Pigeon Island
For those who visit Guadeloupe in a sailboat (as I did for a few days, something obviously cool), the other bays where mooring on the west coast of Basse Terre are deshaies (north) and Anse à la barque (to the south, not too much Distant from Basse-Terre City, the capital of Guadeloupe). Deshaies presents a characteristic village, beautiful cliffs under which swim and a mountain hinterland. Anse à la Barque has a black beach surrounded by palm trees and many iguanas. The interior of Basse Terre is mountainous, wild, with beautiful waterfalls that open in the tropical forest. Here you can live a completely different part of travel than the relaxing beaches of great lands. The Vulcan The Great Soufrière, almost always in the clouds, is 1467 meters high and, if the clouds leave a truce, can be the destination of a spectacular walk. The most beautiful and famous waterfalls are those of Carbet, but numerous are the streams in the jungle that create waterfalls and ponds in which to bathe. Les Saintes and Marie Galante
These small islands very close to low lands must be absolutely included in a travel itinerary to Guadeloupe. Photos speak from them. The lands of Terre de Haut
The picturesque colored houses of Terre de Haut represent a very characteristic environment, as tourist. You can walk to the Fort Napoléon to admire a magnificent panorama (there is no need to reach the strong, actually, the view is already beautiful from the road). The Bay of Terre de Haut, the most populous area of the islet Les Saintes
Another advice is to walk up to Marigot Bay. Marigot, on the island Terre de Haut of the Les Saintes
Terre de Bas is the other populated island of the Les Saintes, while the tiny ilet à cabrit offers perhaps the most beautiful views. You can reach it by canoe and then go up to the fortress at the top, from which you can admire a beautiful view of the archipelago. Panorama on the Les Saintes Islands from Ilet à Cabrit
The island of Marie Galante, on the other hand, is flatter and less panoramic, but compensates with some magnificent beaches. Marie Galante is also located south of Guadeloupe and deserves the short ferry trip to reach it especially for lovers of the sea, snorkeling and spectacular beaches.
