Martinique

A Caribbean, French, Verdissima island, with many white and black beaches and a volcano
Travel itineraries, hiking, kayaking and sailing in Italy and in the world

Travel itinerary
Martinique is part of the islands Oven (Windward Islands), the Caribbean islands perhaps more wild and spectacular. The northern part of Martinique is characteristic and with a prevailing nature; In the center there is the capital Fort de France, populous and pretty chaotic, while the South is a paradisiacal alternation of white beaches and green hills.
Martinique is French, so you can comfortably use the euro and call in Italy at prices Contents. Even the costs are quite frenches, do not expect prezzacci from the Republic of bananas. I recommend renting a car to explore the many beaches and create your travel itinerary from the inside to the coasts.

Saint Pierre and Mount Pelée
The most fascinating town of Martinique is probably Saint Pierre. Overlooking a wide arch of black sand beach, verdant mountains stand behind. The village, very quiet, has typical houses, cabins, an imposing church and the ruins of the homes destroyed by the eruption of the Pelée volcano in 1902.

Behind Saint Pierre stands precisely Mount Pelée, the highest of Martinique as well as the most lethal (but at the moment the volcano seems very quiet). The clouds often cover the top, so that we have not even managed to see it, but they assured us that the top exists. In good weather, a nice walk leads to admire a spectacular view (always on trust).
both north and south of Saint Pierre, along the coast, some beaches meet; Those north as the Anse Ceron are black and wildly surrounded by the jungle: the journey to spectacularity are worth, even if they are not suitable for a swim in relaxation due to the often moved sea.
along the northern Riviera of Martinique An adventurous path follows the coast up to the characteristic village of Grand Rivière.

The Caravelel Peninsula
This peninsula offers some of the most beautiful sights of Martinique, so you don't miss adding it to your travel itinerary. Among white beaches, cultivated fields and natural vegetation you will feel in paradise. The places are very quiet and you will certainly not be able to complain about the confusion on the beach. The sea here is calm, although not very clear; A tartane a baracchino can sell you chicken at the Creole and Ide, a typical Caribbean tuber that could undermine your beliefs about the goodness of our potatoes.
The Caravelel Peninsula is located on the east coast of Martinique, the one exposed to the ocean Atlantic, but several of its bays offer protection from ocean waves.

Les Anses d'Arlet and Le Marin
Le Marin is the port for excellence for tourism in this part of the Caribbean. From here there are many of the rental sailboats and the charters that then head towards Saint Lucia and the Grenadines. If you sailed from those parts, don't be surprised to see the same people in the bars of Le Marin, with whom you can talk about the enormous fish that (not) you caught. It's fun!
The Gulf of Le Marin is wide and colorful with heavenly and blue, but to bathe it is better to get to Saint Anne or Anse Figuière.

Les Anses d'Arlet are two nearby bays in the south-western part of Martinique with two respective characteristic villages. We arrived on a sailboat (they are both well-repaired, comfortable and frequented moorings). The two villages are very quiet as well as the splendid white beaches with palm trees and colored houses behind.

Among the two bays he is protruded (I did not use this term since 1997) a peninsula with red cliffs covered with vegetation, which is spectacular coast by canoeing. The water between the greenery and the heavenly here is clear and the seabed are ideal for snorkeling and diving.
