Travel itinerary
Saint Vincent is part of the islands Oven (Windward Islands), the Caribbean islands perhaps more wild and spectacular. Among these, Saint Vincent is certainly the wildest island, which less has changed over the years. The villages are still those of the past and nature is mostly pristine.
For the independent traveler the rental of a car to explore the numerous beaches and the interior can be a good solution. We visited Saint Vincent within a sailing vacation, coming from Martinique and then more thoroughly going back from the Grenadines.

Wallilabou and Cumberland Bay
Wallilabou is a spectacular bay on the western coast (leeward) of Saint Vincent. Here, among other things, many scenes of the film The Pirates of the Caribbean were shot. You might think that this fame has been exploited to make the area very welcoming and tourist ... actually, it remains a wild bay, with the trees arriving on the sea, two docked molts and a bar that falls into pieces where they were Crowded a bit of movie memorabilia.
In this bay they can moor a dozen boats, very close to the shore, with a top to earth. The hypothesis of being assaulted by pirates does not seem so remote: strange people with machete is around the ground; In reality, however, accidents that occurred in recent years are few and the population is nice, if they except those stripped. When you moor, the locals arrive with improvised rafts built of wooden boards and beer cases to sell fruit or necklace.
Cumberland Bay is equally beautiful and if possible even less touristy. Colored houses overlook the bay for the wilderness. To bathe in clean water you have to walk away a little from the shore, by boat or canoe. Both from here and from Wallilabou it is possible to make trips to the interior reaching fascinating waterfalls immersed in the jungle.
Other destinations
The Upper coast of Saint Vincent has many other bays that are worth the trip. In some bays south of Wallilabou water is fantastic and ideal for snorkeling and diving (the coast is generally very steep, but at the bottom of the bays charming palm-shaded beaches open).
In particular, browsing along the Coast of Saint Vincent fascinated the Chateaubelair bay. Here you will find a islet around which it is fantastic swimming, a promontory covered with palm trees that digrades on the sea and, in the middle, a long beach on which overlooks the characteristic village of Chateaublair.
Here too, even a lover of travels Wild like me for a moment you can desire some sign of tourism. Instead, it's all good, all authentic, and even in the Christmas holidays you could have the bay all for itself.
