Here we are then to the main destinations to see in Tenerife, with all the most interesting activities to do in a vacation on the largest island of the Canaries. The climate is generally fantastic, but not so hot to be bathed in the sea all year round. The ideal months to dive into the ocean are September, October and November, when the water is at 23-24 degrees, much warmer than in Italy, while in summer the sea is warmer in Liguria. In all seasons in Tenerife the sky is often sunny and the clouds go via fast, pushed by the Aliseo.
Let's start from the park of the Teide . The Teide is a 3718 meters high volcano from whose top you can enjoy amazing views; It is also the highest summit in Spain.
Around the volcano the eruptions have created, in the centuries, incredible rocket landscapes, sand, solidified magma and peaks from the incredible forms. The park can be crossed by car: there are various pitches where you can stop to take pictures, but obviously it's worth going over and make trekking. Among the most beautiful paths of Tenerife there are that around "Los Roques", which starts from Mirador de la Ruleta, and that for Montana Blanca.
Also for the cable car you need to book in advance, at least a few days, or even weeks if you want to choose a time slot in particular in high season. Obviously the cable car is not free, indeed!
Once upon arrival of the cable car, even without the permission for the summit, you can walk for an hour at altitude, reaching some panoramic points: that on the "Pico Viejo", highly recommended, and that of Fortaleza. An interesting hypothesis is to go up with the cable car in the morning and then go down on foot, following the very long path that connects to that of Montana Blanca.
In short, the Teide park is the fundamental destination for a travel itinerary to Tenerife And it deserves a trip of at least one day, between trekking and cable car: not to mention that around Brulli mountain landscapes there are also splendid coniferous woods and astronomical observers.
The most touristic area of Tenerife, largely ruined by exaggerated palaces and resorts, is the south-west coast. Apart from the too cement, this coast has some great advantages: it is very sunny, repaired by the wind and rich in beaches. If, like me, love nature, I recommend the wild beaches and the most beautiful views for an itinerary along the south coast of Tenerife.
First of all, you can do a walk on the very special Montana Amarilla, to admire the landscapes. In Los Cristianos you can rent a kayak (we had with us an inflatable sup) and pay along the cliffs towards fish farms: around these we saw two marine turtles and several dolphins emerge! And in the rocky bake in front of the farms I saw (underwater, swimming on the bottom) a gigantic race.
Alcalà is a cute village on the sea where to stay, with several trattorias where to eat fish and tapas and scenographic rocks on the ocean. Following the coast towards the north-west, you arrive at the cliffs of "Los Gigantes" really impressive and spectacular and that can be blanked by boat or canoeing, up to the beach of Masca.
A feature Of the Canaries In fact it is that the most famous destinations are attacked by tourists, while equally beautiful and less known places are wild and peaceful.
You don't travel to Tenerife to visit typical cities and countries, but also from this point of view a vacation on the largest island of the Canaries will not disappoint. On the northern coast there is the village of Garachico fishermen, with natural pools and a pleasant historic center. Also in this area of the island, but in the interior, there are characteristic countries like Santiago de Teide, Icod de los Vinos and, proceeding more north-east, the Orotava, which is a more lively and populous city with a nice neighborhood historical.
Even in larger cities like San Cristobal de la Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife you can dedicate a few hours to admire the center and the main monuments. Near Santa Cruz there is the famous and very long beach of Las Teresitas.
El Medano, on the suction cup east coast, has a long beach, various bars with a relaxed atmosphere and constant wind for kitesurfing enthusiasts.
On the northern coast there are some bays to visit during the holiday, even if the rough sea He often makes them very suitable to take a bath. For example, here the Rojas peninsula is spectacular.
Finally, Tenerife can be a great access door for the other Canary Islands being geographically in the center between La Gomera, El Hierro, La Palma e Gran Canaria . A flight and a separate story are the eastern islands: Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Less beautiful landscapes, but with amazing beaches.
