Abbadia Lariana is a small town spectacularly lying on the branch of Lecco del Lago di Como. Quickly reachable from Milan, with a beach with crystal clear waters, it is also the starting point for some beautiful paths, including the climb to the resinelli floor.
First of all, however, you can take the comfortable walk that runs along the lake from Abbadia Lariana towards Mandello del Lario.
The wayland path, on the other hand, is a very simple trekking itinerary that runs along this shore of Lake Como passing a little more upstream of the main road and houses. Also in this case, you can walk from Abbadia Lariana to Mandello del Lario (and continue beyond). At the start of the excursion from Abbadia Lariana, he passes first inside and then behind the characteristic borber of Borbino.
Among the mountains behind Abbadia Lariana there are several paths that wind around the Val Monastero reaching houses in the green, rural churches and the Cengen waterfall. Among these hiking itineraries passes the path 4a that leads to the resinelli floor in about 2 hours and three quarters of ascent.
To take the resinelli path, first of all, we must first walk along the path of the wayfare, from Borbino. Quite soon it is located, on the right, the deviation for a narrown, the campelli and the resinelli plan.
In the first part of the route, the ring of the waterfalls crosses its path 4a; Some traits are shared, moreover there are shortcuts and deviations that could take you to lose. In general, however, it is quite simple: if you always go along the valley and then on the ridge, you arrive at the resinelli plan. If you go down, go back to the lake. You walk immersed in the woods, but among the branches of the trees you can see Lake Como or the sharp peaks of the Grigne.
Once overtake the rustic houses of reprocesses, we happened to lose the deviation in the photo below; The advice is therefore: to the bombs, always look for the indication for the resinelli plan, or, at least, for the path 4a. Alternatively, keep on the paved path of the Campelli and avoid following the signs that in theory would allow you to shorten the path.
When we lost ourselves, after walking half an hour on the wrong path, the track was uncertain and steep between dense trees and beautiful overlooking the lake. We have also met a goat, which has escaped shaking his head when asked for information. The positive thing is that even so, going up, you always come, somehow, in the resinelli plan. We were answered on the main path at the cliff of Campelli.
In this area we also found a tide of chestnuts: October is the right time for this itinerary, not only to admire the colors of the leaves that change, but also to collect those that will become excellent caldarroste.
The meadows of campelli yes They find almost 1000 meters of altitude, while Abbadia Lariana (and Lake Como) are 200 meters above sea level: the height difference of the path is therefore remarkable. To get to the resinelli floor (altitude 1280) you still go up, enjoying some other views of the mountains.
On the resinelli floor, in reality, you can also get there by car: here you will find, indeed, several bars and restaurants. Not the ideal destination for a trek, from a certain point of view, but, on the other hand, the itinerary was of great satisfaction. In all, we walked 1150 meters of uphill height difference (arriving at the Soldanella refuge, which is at the top of the resinelli plan) (and then obviously as many descent to return to Abbadia Lariana), in 6 hours counting a quick picnic, a ' Abundant snack and chestnut harvest. Excluding the pauses, it is therefore about 3 hours of ascent (losing a little) and 2 of descent. This to give an idea of the timing, but you keep in mind that we walked rather quickly.
The descent takes place on the same path, with possible deviations and losses to taste. With the same fatigue and height difference there are certainly more fascinating paths, but this trek by Lariana Abbadia to the resinelli floor and at the Soldanella refuge has from its different advantages: comfort of the start of the itinerary, directly from Abbadia station, less than a 'Car time from Milan; a beautiful forest to travel and to collect chestnuts; Views always pleasant; And a wide choice of places to eat at the end of the climb!
