Winter artavage plans become a fiabean snowy ladder to hike or eat in shelters. A good way to earn puckwear and polenta is walking with snowshoes up to the summit of Mount Sodadura, an impressive white pyramid standing against the sky.
Artavaggio plans are located in Valsassina, not far from Lecco. Reachable in cable car from Moggio (an hour's drive from Milan), the Artavaggio plans are located about 1600 meters of altitude and offer ample views that become really lovely when snow-capped.
Mount Soda has just exceeds 2000 meters, but looks much taller and majestic and, from the top, offers an inimitable 360-degree panorama. Reaching the peak with snowshoes is not difficult, apart from a short pass to rock that could make the anxiety to those who suffer from vertigo, and not too tiring, given only 400 meters of height difference from the arrival of the cable car to the planes of Artavage.
The shelters and sled tracks that are at the exit of the cable car of the Artavaggio plans are very crowded on the winter weekends, but this is not a ski resort (the only plant is a treadmill), so just walk a few Hundreds of meters with snowshoes to abandon confusion. The refuges of Artavaggio plans are still well built, with their vintage charm. Walking then for the plateau, there are more or less beaten itineraries.
The climb to the shelters Nicola and Cazzaniga is a frequented route that offers beautiful views of the mountains and on the snow-covered trees. It first proceeds to the east and then towards the pyramid of Mount SodaDura, and then turned northernmost towards the two shelters.
Arrived here, there are two possible destinations if you want to climb a panoramic top: the top of Piazzo and precisely Mount Soda, which you want for the majestic form you want for the view attracts more snowshoes and hikers (no snowshoes are necessary Winter, indeed, in some places it is better to proceed with the shoes only).
The climb to the sodladura begins quietly and always evident until you arrive at the slopes of the peak triangle. From here you go up to the ridge, with left (ie the eastern direction) the imposing Orobie alps and on the right the whites and peaceful places of Artavaggio.
The climb is not long, but it's steep and you have to pay attention since you proceed in the crest: the slopes on the two sides are remarkable and it is difficult to stop a slide, especially if the snow is hard. Anyway, if the snow is good there is no particular problem. At one point, however, it is necessary to overcome rocky balzes. It is not climbing, they are only three or four boulders, but they could become difficult with ice. We from here have proceeded with boots, without snowshoes, and a few minutes after the boulders we arrived at the summit of Mount SodaDura.
As mentioned, the panorama ranges at 360 degrees, from the Orobie Alps to the Lecchesi mountains.
The descent takes place on the same itinerary and you can thus continue to enjoy the beauty of artavage plans as well as exploiting the excellent and generally economic ones that offer Typical mountain food.
One last tip for those who want to reach Artavaggio plans. At the Moggio cable car there can be tail, especially on Sunday, which implies the risk of long expectations both uphill and downhill. It is therefore good to avoid the most messed days (the sunny Sundays of February and March) and the most popular times. Furthermore, the path that from Moggio rises to the Artavaggio plans as an alternative to the cable car, at least one of the two senses can be considered. The height difference meters are 700, the wooded landscape always nice, and if you have a limited budget you can save you the 12 euros of the Moggio cable car (one rounds only 7 euros).
If you are sprouting with snowshoes, you can rent them to the artavage plans ... so the top of Mount Sodladura awaits you!
