This ring hiking itinerary allows you to admire splendid views of Genoa and the Gulf Paradise, but also some specialities of the truly unique area: from the batteries of Monte Moro dating back to the Second World War to Nervi Laghetti, passing on the paths of Mount Mande Scattered with caves.
Let's start from Monte Moro, keeping in mind that obviously this trek can also be traveled starting from Genoa Nervi and its ponds, or dividing it into two different trips. The path to the remains of the Second World War on the Moro is located at the Cemetery of Quinto.
From here you go up following the itinerary indicated by the red-shaped red marked mark. All the slope on which you walk is rich in shrubs, of Brugo and Timo: very few tall trees, and for this reason the views are always very open both on Genoa and on the promontory of Portofino.
After about one hundred and fifty meters of height he reaches the first bunkers of the Second World War. The buildings abound, and sometimes keep themselves in the mountain with tunnels, stairs and underground rooms. Entering it is not recommended, but it is all open and out of curiosity you can at least look into the historic works of the war built on Monte Moro to protect from Genoa.
Continuing to climb, you reach about 400 meters of altitude where there are the ruins of an old hotel. Here you can also get to a car, but it is worth walking the path from the fifth cemetery to admire the moro batteries precisely, as well as the beautiful views.
From the ruins of the hotel you can continue to climb the crest of the mountain Moro, heading towards the antennas on the summit of the bands.
Monte Bande appears to be bare and even a little sad from below, but it is actually rich in Mediterranean scrub and offers spectacular views of Genoa.
Furthermore, its slopes are scattered with small caves, of which the most interesting is the Pertuso do Cantè, at 540 meters of altitude, reachable with a short deviation to the left while rising along the ridge. The Perthuso do Cantè is a cave about twenty meters long from which a stream comes out. Standing careful and torch, you can forward to see the source of the Rio Quinto and a limestone formation on the bottom.
Back on the ridge route that from Monte Moro goes to the summit of the bands, at about 600 meters of altitude, not far from the Pertuso do Cantè, there is a viewpoint. Here you can decide to continue until the top of Monte Bande, at 820 meters of altitude (and which can also be reached from Genoa even by car through a long road in the ridge). Or, you can deviate to the right, on a path that continues on the coast on the imposing side of the band and which then deviates to the east, allowing you to reach the Nervi ponds.
On this page we recommend this option, also because it allows you to always walk in wild places, as well as going down towards the spectacular ponds. Thus they cross the few trees of Orsiggia, touching some ruins of stone, and descends on the left side of the stream that descends from the mountain bands towards Genoa Nervi.
At times you can see the Autogrill of Sant'Ilario, but in general it is in unspoiled nature, and the green puddles and the waterfalls along the stream are idyllic.
This itinerary, more disconnected than that from Genoa Quinto for Monte Moro and Mount Bande, is reported by a red dot. Lower, the stream joins the wider Rio Nervi that forms other splendid ponds.
The path at this point joins the asphalt narrow road (but very close, not passable from the cars, only by the scooters) that connects the campaign of Molinetti to the city of Genoa. You pass under the motorway overpass and in about twenty minutes of staircases and city streets you arrive at the picturesque marina of nerves. Here, or along the nearby sea walks, you can conclude the trip with a nice aperitif. (And for those who have a car from the fifth cemetery, twenty minutes walk to reach it).
In short, this is a splendid ring itinerary, very rich in variety, but not too tiring. It is also worth doing only the trip to Monte Moro and its batteries, as well as another excursion the beautiful Nervi lakes, which seem to be transported by the Alps to the outskirts of Genoa. The complete path suggested here is a great idea for all the curious ones who love walking in peace of nature and want to admire splendid views of the sea.
