In Liguria there are many hiking itineraries, some really famous, but also the least known trekking from Recco to Genoa Nervi passing through Sori and Bogliasco is splendid ... and even very varied. In addition to the sea, this path allows to admire characteristic villages, olive groves and hilly landscapes. In short, a highly recommended route that ends on the beautiful sea walk of Genoa Nervi.
In total, we employed 5 hours for the route, with a short lunch break. The overall height difference, given by the different ups and downs along the trail, is about 800 meters, the length on 13-14 km. Nothing prohibits to divide trekking into different stages, taking advantage of the railway stations of Sori and Bogliasco (as well as those of Recco and Nervi).
It therefore starts from Recco. From the station you descend to the sea and then continue towards Ponente, following the coast and the marina. With a short staircase you go to the road that connects Recco to Mulinetti. From the sidewalk, you can admire the cliffs and houses on the sea.
You continue to follow the walk to the sea, but you must leave it at the railway station (very little used) by Mulinetti. Here, in fact, with a subway you go to Aurelia and from here you have to reach the climb long coast, where the symbol of the Liguria path (or SL, to look for throughout the itinerary) shows us that we are on the right path. The long coast climb is a typical "Creuza", a stepped path that climbs between fields, olive groves and some house.
We leave the climb towards the west, towards the village of Polanesi, where there is a panoramic church.
Continuing to climb between fields, forest and some panoramic house, you will finally arrive at the Church of Sant'Apollinare, about 250 meters of altitude, which is particularly characteristic both for sea views and because they are surrounded by greenery.
From here, a descent that begins comfortably with a road and then becomes a rather steep path brings towards the sea. The views range towards Genoa and the Ligurian coast of Ponente.
Sori is a very pleasant village on the sea, so quiet in winter and crowded (especially on its wide beach) on summer weekends. From Sori and Sant'Apollinare also passes an amazing Ring trail 17 km, described here , which also leads to the beautiful Monte Santa Croce.
After a break at the beach, from Sori you have to go back if you want to continue along the Liguria path. In the western part of the country, therefore, we cross the Aurelia, take the short Via Daniele Manin and take the path that goes up to Pieve Ligure (on Google Maps the sports field of Pieve Ligure are evident and then the Church of San Michele Archangel). As always, the climb is pleasantly immersed between fields and olive groves and equally beautiful is the arrival at the panoramic hilly village of Pieve Ligure, about 150 meters of altitude.
From Pieve Ligure continues on Via San Bernardo, slightly climbed, towards Ponente: we are in one of the most panoramic points of the hiking route between Sori and Bogliasco. The view ranges along the Ligurian coast and, in winter days, in the snow-covered maritime Alps.
Thus we proceed to the hamlet of San Bernardo, about 250 meters of altitude, from which it is annealed by the sea with a very rich path that leads very quickly towards Bogliasco.
Who for convenience want to walk the Sori Bogliasco path in the opposite direction, that is from Bogliasco to Sori, keep in mind that they will have to start with a very steep climb: a great exercise, a quick way to take altitude, but also a hard fatigue. Starting from Sori, the uphill itinerary is softer.
Visited the beautiful village of Bogliasco, remains the last effort (at least for those who want to travel all the trek by Recco to Genoa Nervi). The Liguria path continues until Genoa, and the itinerary includes here to go up from Bogliasco to the Hill of Sant'Ilario. To this end, at the Bogliasco train station you have to cross the Aurelia and take Via Armanna that like many of the paths in the area is a path that rises very panoramically between cultivated terraces and olive groves.
We proceed via Pagano and Via del Pianello and then continue on the coast on Vacettoli towards the west, towards the church of Sant'Ilario, built in a panoramic position at about 200 meters of altitude.
Here was in Genoa, and we see, because the signs of traffic reappaia (an asphalted road leads from Genoa Nervi to Sant'Ilario). The views of the city are still noteworthy, and while continues along Via dei Marsano and along the subsequent roads to the church of San Rocco di Nervi, the cars re-disappear and can be contemplated the view in peace.
From the church of San Rocco several staircases descend to the city. We tried to follow the "Creuze" that they faster to the Nervi park, but every downhill path is fine here and, quite quickly, we arrive in Genoa. From the center of Nervi you can easily reach the famous park.
From the park of Nervi the haunted sea walk is one step away: the ideal place to enjoy the sunset and, depending on the season and the climate, drink a hot chocolate or make an aperitif to celebrate the positive conclusion of the trekking.
The Genoa Nervi station is right on the seafront, so very convenient to return to Recco, at home, at the hotel or where the cabbage you want, to put it easier good: d. A pleasant conclusion for a truly fascinating trekking.
To travel all paths on the Ligurian coast from Genoa to Tuscany, you can start from Genoa Quinto and from the very interesting itinerary to Monte Moro and the Nervi Laghetti ; All the Riviera routes are described in this Page on trekking in Liguria .
