Of the many splendid trails on the Gulf of La Spezia, this itinerary near San Terenzo is one of the shorter, but allows you to enjoy three splendid destinations in a short time: we then present the path that connects San Terenzo, the beach of the blue bay And the rocky tip galera. Let's start with the beautiful village of San Terenzo, with its typical Ligurian houses and beautiful views of Lerici Castle.
To reach San Terenzo with public transportation it is convenient to use the Line L bus that every 30 minutes starts from the central La Spezia station. For short trekking towards Punta Galera and the blue bay we recommend the non-summer months, when there is no crowding. Between November and April it is also possible to park for free at different points, and also to the falconara park that we will see soon. (In the San Terenzo area - Lerici a free parking is worth a lot!).
In San Terenzo, behind the marina, it is possible to take the Falconara climb, a staircase that goes up to the homonymous park. At the falconara park in addition to trees, trails and panoramic benches there is a soccer field and above all the free parking of which I was talking about (only in the winter months). If you are in the car (and not in summer) you can then take the excursion by exploiting this parking and going down to San Terenzo with the Falconara ascent.
From the park you have beautiful views of the Gulf of La Spezia.
The park trails circulate the soccer field: in particular, the outermost route leads to a couple of panoramic points, among which there is the descent towards Punta Galera (easily found with the Maps.me app). This steep path goes path with a little attention, because it goes down enough to precipice among the trees. They are still 80 meters of height difference and 10 minutes walk.
In the very last stroke you have to do some balance on the rocks and you finally arrive on the spectacular Punta Galera
.
From rocks rocks on the tip, overtaking eastwards, you can admire the beautiful cliffs on the side of San Terenzo.
On the other side, instead, the rocks lead to the beach of the blue bay. This is not an official path, but I describe it the same (then after I speak of the normal path for the blue bay). Walking for 300 meters on the rocks, with a bit of balance, it is in fact possible to arrive without wetting to the beach. The difficulty is rewarded by the views.
Obviously this trait is feasible without bathing only if the sea is calm. Thus you reach the beach of the blue bay, spectacular beach out of season, when it is not crowded: in summer it is a good place for a dive, but not for a quiet walk in nature. In winter day tarsi, the blue bay with palmaria in the background is heavenly!
After a bit of relaxation on the beach, you can go back to the blue bay by walking in the overlying oak woods. The path is marked by the white and red symbol. At one point you enter a olive grove and you arrive at the paved road that leads to the Park of Falconara Park.
Obviously, if you don't want to walk on the rocks of Punta Galera, this is the easy traditional itinerary.
Obviously the difficult itinerary by me proposed is more fascinating! Arriving at the paved road, turning to the right you get quickly at the parking lot (all about 70 meters of ascent and a 15-minute walk from the Blue Bay). After leaving the beach, from the road to the parking lot, but it is possible to admire the Apuan Alps too!
In short, a short trip as a distance, but which requires a little commitment to do the entire adventurous ring, dedicate us a few hours to enjoy all the places well. However, even avoiding the stretch on the rocks, this itinerary allows you to admire beautiful places!
In the area, there are other splendid trails, especially those Fiascherino, between Lerici and Tellaro and the wildest ones between Tellaro e montemarcello .
On the other side of the Gulf of La Spezia you could see well The island of Palmaria, whose paths are described here : in short, in the area you spoiled the choice! Good trips !!
