At the Far East of Liguria, the Gulf of La Spezia is closed by a kind of peninsula where there are locations like Lerici, Tellaro and Montemarcello. (We visited this area far and wide also in Canoe, from Lerici to Magra di Magra , give us a look).
on this peninsula between the Gulf Of La Spezia and the Magra River there are also some really interesting paths that offer panoramas ranging from Tuscany to the Ligurian Sea.
There are several starting points for these walks: in high season it is advisable to use public transport and reach Lerici with buses and ferries from La Spezia. Out of season you can easily arrive by car and park comfortably along the road that connects Tellaro and Montemarcello. There are no railway lines up to here. Obviously, then you can turn so much on foot! This is the idea at the base of trekking, in effect.
Several are also the paths that connect Lerici, Tellaro and Montemarcello, while some deviations lead to the sea.
In a long one-day trek you can cover almost the entire peninsula. Otherwise, you can make trekking shorter but rich in satisfaction. Parking where the road is cut by the Tellaro - Montemarcello trail, you can walk towards the latter while keeping yourself "at altitude", on the eastern side of the peninsula. We pass through dense woods from which, sometimes, there are splendid views of the Apuan Alps and Northern Tuscany.
Some of the most beautiful views of Tuscany have from Montemarcello's botanical garden, about 360 meters of altitude. The village of Montemarcello, on the other hand, offers splendid views of the Gulf of La Spezia and is a quiet medieval village with features. Features.
From here, a chance is to go down (along a path that becomes a steep staircase) towards the beach of Punta Corvo which, outside of the crowded summer weekends, is wild, deserted and ... well, wonderful.
Another descent towards the sea, instead, to go for the first part in the car and then walk to a steep path, door from Montemarcello to the rocks of Punta Bianca.
To return to Tellaro there are several bubi, but the Council is to follow the path along the coast of the Gulf of La Spezia, prohibiting every now and then to admire the cliffs and the sea below.
As always, the panoramas on the Gulf of La Spezia, Portovenere and the three islands (La Palmaria, the Tino and the Tinetto Tinetto) are wonderful, especially at sunset.
You can read about a Spectacular trekking up to Portovenere here and the sensational Canoeing of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto on this page .
The trek continues going down to Tellaro (from which then we need to go back towards the road to find the car). Tellaro is a village on the sea that has nothing to envy to the Cinque Terre: a quiet place, with the houses overlooking the sea (could give you a fishing rod out of a window and end up directly at sea ... why not Yes you never know!).
If you want to split your walks to several days Click here to compare the hotels and find the most convenient accommodation.
As mentioned, if you parked along the main road you should go back to the path to the car. Otherwise, you can continue the path to Lerici, in the midst of olive groves, woods and houses, with sensational glimpses on the Gulf, especially in the clear winter evenings (you can find photos and information On the paths between Tellaro , Lerici and Fiascherino here ).
Always between Montemarcello and Tellaro, not far from the latter, there is the magnificent beach of the Groppol, reachable with a steep path (which looks like a landslide, more than a path). Who has a good balance can go and enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches in Liguria.
In short, the paths between Tellaro, Montemarcello and Punta Corvo offer the opportunity to do some beautiful excursions: the itineraries are few, but they deserve to be explored in all their deviations.
This itinerary is also the last of the many paths Between Genoa and Tuscany, all paths and all described to this Page on trekking in Liguria . To travel the entire west Riviera to the east, the previous stages are Lerici and fiascherino as well as the savages trails On the island of Palmaria !
